Question 1: When is the exhaust fan of the catalytic unit in an oil refinery in operation to generate power? 2 How to control the power generation state and the non-power generation state? What are the main interlocks for Unit 3?
The three units in our installation do not have generators; we can only use exhaust fans to generate power in order to reduce the electricity consumption of some motors.
Whether power generation is possible depends on the actual operating conditions. Since we installed flue gas desulfurization and denitration systems, the back-pressure has increased; even when the power of the smoke exhaust fan is at its normal level of around 500 Kw, it’s not possible to generate power
Power generation and consumption depend on the flue gas load; power can be generated when there is an excess load. The unit interlocks are based on parameters such as shaft displacement, shaft temperature, and pressure difference at the throat
It’s usually a steam generator; electricity is generated by smoke engines. I’m not really sure about that.

After flue gas desulfurization, catalysis with oxygen-enriched regeneration still meets the conditions for power generation, and the impact of back pressure is not significant. However, in catalysis with oxygen-depleted regeneration using a CO burner, the back pressure on the smoke engine is relatively high, making power generation more difficult.
The problem is that it won’t work without desulfurization and denitration, right? Also, what do you mean by saying it’s not possible to generate electricity either? Please advise
