In circulating hydrogen, the contents of HCl and H2S are generally measured; S and Cl are not tested separately. The HCl level should be no more than 5, while the H2S level should be between 1 and 2
The first question: when using a test tube for detection, HCl levels are generally around 5–8 ppm, while hydrogen sulfide levels are usually 0.8–1 ppm. The analysis results provided by the lab technician usually only include the hydrogen sulfide level, which is typically 1 ppm. The second question is that the reforming catalyst is a bifunctional catalyst. The water-chlorine balance on the catalyst is generally maintained by injecting water or chlorine (the chlorine content is usually 1.1%-1.3% of the catalyst’s mass). The metal function and the acidic function work together to cause aromatication of the raw material. It has strong metallic properties and a high catalytic activity for hydrogenation and dehydrogenation, but it tends to cause carbon deposition, thereby reducing the conversion rate of aromatics. It has a strong acidic property, making it prone to hydrocracking reactions, which reduces the purity of the hydrogen used in the reforming process, lowers the liquid yield, and decreases the aromatics yield. Therefore, maintaining a proper water-chlorine balance in the catalyst is very important for production.
I generally agree with the view on the fourth floor; the amounts of HCL and H2S in the recycled hydrogen vary slightly depending on the catalyst used and the impurity content of the feed.
