How can heat loss be minimized in the coking-to-oil conversion line? Does anyone have proven experience or recommendations for insulation materials?
The specific thickness of the insulation required is determined by the pipe diameter, operating temperature, the thermal conductivity of the insulation material used, as well as the allowable heat loss. For insulation materials, we usually choose aluminum silicate fibers; magnesium silicate fibers are also an option. We recently worked on a project involving pipes with a diameter of 250, using 190 mm thick insulation – this is provided for reference
495℃, 0.5MPa
The insulation thickness depends only on the operating temperature and pipe diameter. If 495℃ is the operating temperature, the recommended insulation thickness is as follows: DN100 – 130mm, DN150 – 140mm, DN200 – 150mm. Aluminum silicate fiber products should be used for the material selection.
The commonly used and effective material at present is rare-earth insulation material; it has been in use for many years now. The temperature reduction achieved is around 6°C, which is a fairly good result. The cost, including labor and materials provided by the manufacturer, is approximately over 2 million.
