Water injection before the intercooler of the air compressor

This post was last edited by Refiner on 2017-11-8 at 15:09. Is water injection done before the first-stage outlet of the compressor in coking or catalytic units enters the intercooler? What is the amount of water used? We have never used this practice, nor do we have any relevant process procedures. The regulations for corrosion prevention in manufacturing processes mention that some companies use this method; I’m not sure what the results of using it are
A senior colleague once said that a unit in Guangdong suffered from severe erosion; I won’t specify which one it was.
You must be referring to the compressed rich gas washing line; we have it running continuously, and the water used is acidic water separated by the oil-gas separator at the top of the fractionation tower.
We also have this process, but it hasn’t been put into use; the older people say its effectiveness is poor
Our unit also has a pipe as thin as a heat trace, and the flow diagram shows it as ammonia solution. It has never been put into use in reality! It’s not clear what purpose this wire serves.

Sorry, the title was incorrect; water is injected into the pipeline before the intermediate cooler at the first outlet of the compressor. We inject water before the rich gas cooler at the second outlet – it’s acidic water from the distillation process

The inter-machine cooler in our unit has corroded and is leaking; there is no water washing line designed, and perhaps an oxygen-removing water or softened water line should be added
What’s causing the severe scouring of the turbine unit? Is it scouring inside the machine room?
Is it the tube bundle or the casing of the intercooler? How often is the tube bundle of your intercooler replaced?
