Dear HaiChuan friends, I would like to ask if the sulfur-containing oil content in the vacuum distillation wastewater from your refineries is high. At our plant, the use of steam vacuum pumps results in a high level of sulfur-containing oil in such wastewater. Do anyone have any good ways to solve this problem?
There is an emulsification issue; increase the residence time, reduce the top temperature, and take samples for analysis
Since steam is used for vacuuming, reducing the top temperature proves ineffective. After vacuuming, there is some degree of emulsification; relying solely on the residence time in the tank may not be sufficient
Steam is used for vacuum extraction at the top of the tower; reducing the temperature at the top should have no impact on this.
The emulsification of sulfur-containing wastewater during top cut removal is a common phenomenon, primarily determined by the properties of the oil removed from the top and the vacuum extraction process. In terms of process control, there are relatively many adjustments that can be made using chemicals; for example, organic amine neutralizers can be used, the pH value of the sulfur-containing wastewater can be adjusted, and corrosion inhibitors with anti-emulsifying properties can be selected to control the oil content in this wastewater. If the emulsification problem still cannot be resolved, a sedimentation tank combined with an oil remover can be used after the sulfur-containing wastewater leaves the facility to recover the emulsified heavy oil.
