I need help. There’s a group of 6 spherical storage tanks for Class B-1 flammable liquids, with a total capacity of 3,000 cubic meters. Must the spacing between these spherical tanks comply with the distance requirements specified in Standard 50160 for groups of liquefied hydrocarbon storage tanks? According to the petrochemical regulations, what should be the distance between the tank and the fire dike: 3 meters or 1/2H? Is it also necessary to meet the requirement of one tank per dike?
1. Spherical tanks are generally not recommended for Class A and B media, especially those with a capacity of 3000 m3, as this will result in significantly higher costs; 2. If storage in spherical tanks is already planned, the spacing between these tanks can be determined in accordance with the requirements for spacing between liquefied hydrocarbon tanks specified in GB50160 ; 3. The distance from the tank to the fire dike is primarily determined based on the state of the material in the event of a leak. If medium Type A or B remains in liquid phase after a leak, it is recommended to calculate the parabola in accordance with the specifications. It should also be noted that the effect of pressure inside the tank needs to be taken into consideration appropriately. 4. A single tank with a single dike is a requirement set by the Safety Supervision Bureau, referring to chemical tanks. It generally needs to be carried out as instructed. 5. The height and volume of the fire dike must meet the volume requirements of the largest storage tank. 6. Other specific requirements shall be implemented according to the actual situation. When accurate calculation is not possible, it is recommended to follow stricter requirements.
