It is suspected that acid was carried in the refrigerant, causing corrosion of the pipelines. In the event that the heat extraction tube bundle ruptures, it is normal for acid to be discharged from the chiller pump.
I agree with the view above; the refrigerant contains a small amount of acid. Although it’s not much, its accumulation over time can cause corrosion, leading to pipeline leaks. A reserve port is usually provided at the bottom of the refrigerant buffer tank; it is recommended to drain it regularly, as this reduces acid corrosion of the pipelines.
