In my production unit, there is a mother liquor concentration distillation vessel made of enamel, with a capacity of 5000 liters. It was installed and put into use in September. Recently, it was found that most of the enamel on the inside of the vessel has fallen off. The mother liquor contains high levels of salts, including sodium chloride and sodium hydroxide, as well as a small amount of o-toluidine; sodium hydroxide accounts for around 10%-15% of the total salts, while sodium chloride makes up the majority. The maximum distillation temperature is 150 degrees Celsius. Now it’s necessary to select a new type of vessel that can withstand high temperatures, salt, and alkalis. You used enamel material before; didn’t you explain your application requirements to the enamel factory at the time of procurement? If the contract stipulates it, the ceramic factory should be responsible for covering any related costs.
Most of the enamel on the inside of the pot has fallen off; apart from manufacturing issues, the main cause is improper use, resulting from sudden fluctuations in temperature.

It is estimated that it has nothing to do with the glass lining process; rather, it is due to the process conditions (rate of temperature increase and maximum temperature and pressure)
For this process, you cannot use enamel-lined reactors; firstly, there is 15% sodium hydroxide present, and secondly, the high temperature makes it easy for the enamel to crack
