Dear friends from Sichuan, I’m currently facing a situation that puzzles me, and I hope experienced friends from Sichuan can provide some answers. Thank you! We are currently designing a set of storage tanks for materials whose freezing point is around 100 degrees. The client believes that the melting point of these materials is too high; therefore, it is recommended to use jacketed pipe connections for all equipment outlets, with steam used for heating. As a result, the design of the equipment becomes quite complex. I would like to change these pipe connections to flanged connections instead, to be installed on the equipment walls and connected directly to the jacketed pipes or insulation valves of the process pipelines. Since no material is stored in these tanks, there is no concern regarding poor insulation leading to freezing and blockages. I wonder if this design is reasonable. If any of you who have encountered similar situations can offer some advice, I would be very grateful. Thank you!

The sleeve fitting isn’t complicated either – the inner tube is welded normally, and the outer tube is secured and welded using two half-tubes. I’m not sure how you designed it; a flanged fitting would work as well too. It’s just a matter of cost; if they are all small fittings, it doesn’t really matter
