If the equipment design drawings refer to construction drawings, it is recommended that the entity responsible for issuing the design approval draw up all the construction-related drawings and specify the requirements for manufacturing and inspection. Even for standard parts, manufacturing inspection requires drawings as well as inspection and acceptance specifications. Design firms can establish standard drawing libraries or develop parametric drawing software to improve the efficiency of producing drawings. Having the manufacturing unit provide the drawings for standard parts is inefficient, introduces more opportunities for errors, and results in unclear responsibilities.
