One heat exchanger has specifications of 325X8. The drawings require that the weld joints be tested for intergranular corrosion, but since this equipment does not have longitudinal seams, it is not possible to use a test plate made from the product. What should be done in such a situation? Are there any relevant standard specifications?

The poster should take a look at the intergranular corrosion testing standard GB/T21433; representative test specimens can be prepared, and these specimens must represent the welding processes used for all pressure-bearing welds. Therefore, it’s not just a matter of longitudinal seams – factors such as the batch of welding materials and the batch of materials used for the pressure-bearing components also come into play. A single container may require the simulation and preparation of multiple sets of test specimens.
