Standards such as GB 713 for plates, GB 9948 for pipes, NB 47008 for forgings, etc., as well as GB 150.2, all specify requirements regarding the impact toughness of materials. If necessary, the design can stipulate requirements that exceed these standards – for example, conducting impact tests at lower temperatures, raising the acceptable values for impact energy, or increasing the number of sampling points; all of these should be indicated in the drawings. High-strength steels, including CrMo steel, as well as sheets with large thicknesses, can require design specifications that exceed standard levels due to their poor toughness and the risk of brittle fracture at low temperatures.
