During the storage and transportation of oil products, evaporation of the medium can create high-concentration oil vapor spaces within the tanks. In situations where static electricity cannot be properly dissipated or during thunderstorm weather, this can easily lead to explosion accidents, posing a serious threat to the safety of the tank area. The current internal floating disk technologies available on the market have the following main defects: (1) The modules are not fully sealed, posing a risk of liquid ingress ; (2) Few buoyancy units ; (3) Welding work is required, and the installation workload is large ; (4) The sealing measures for attachments are poor, resulting in inadequate control of VOCs. The conventional floating roof design also presents safety risks during subsequent maintenance, and its effectiveness in reducing VOCs is poor. In recent years, higher standards have been set for the prevention and control of both internal floating roofs and volatile organic compounds; therefore, it is urgent to adopt new technologies to address VOCs at their source. I saw some materials promoting stainless steel double-disc floating roofs. Has anyone used them? What’s the performance like?

A stainless steel double-disc floating roof – I’ve never seen one; currently, those with a capacity of over 5 thousand are all carbon steel double-disc floating roofs.
