Our company’s block graphite condensers currently have low heat exchange efficiency; it is estimated that this is due to scale buildup in the shell side (water vapor evaporating in the tube side). The scale components should be carbonates and sulfates (from condensate water). We want to try chemical cleaning, but we don’t know how to prepare the cleaning solution or how to carry out the cleaning process . The shell is cast iron. I would appreciate advice from those who have experience in this area. Thank you.
There are teams specialized in cleaning; you can look for them

You can learn more about our scale removal products: they operate without electricity or magnets, do not require the use of chemical agents, are energy-efficient and environmentally friendly, require little maintenance, and are the first of their kind in China – they come with invention patents and utility model patents.

Traditional methods for cleaning tanks and reactors involve either manual operation or the automatic filling and draining of cleaning solutions. Both approaches have significant drawbacks: they fail to clean the tank surfaces thoroughly, result in low cleaning efficiency, lead to waste of cleaning agents, and do not ensure safety for human operators. The high-pressure nozzle cleaning system can automatically carry out and monitor the entire cleaning process in real time, ensuring a thorough 360-degree cleaning of the inside of the tank. It delivers high-quality cleaning results, and it is able to adjust the intensity of the impact force according to the varying levels of adhesion of different products to the inner walls, thus providing a uniform and consistent cleaning effect ; (2) Cleaning cycle. The cleaning cycle for traditional tanks and reactors is limited by the size of the vessels and the adhesion of the product to their inner walls, resulting in long processing times. High-pressure nozzle cleaning allows for the adjustment of the appropriate impact force based on the product’s adhesion to the inner walls, thereby significantly reducing the cleaning time ; (3) Safety. The high-pressure nozzle cleaning system uses a closed-loop cleaning process; there is no need for operators to enter the tank during cleaning, which prevents harm to them from the toxicity of the products and other hazards. It also enables automatic monitoring of all components. (4) Economic benefits. High-pressure nozzle cleaning enables the greatest cleaning effect with the minimum amount of cleaning fluid. The liquid used for cleaning can be recycled, which not only saves on the high costs associated with manual cleaning but also reduces the use of cleaning agents, thereby lowering the costs related to the treatment of waste liquids.
Use acid washing; it is best to have professionals carry out the process.

How is the performance of the graphite heat exchanger? How was it cleaned and treated?
I hired so-called professionals to do the cleaning, but the results weren’t very good. The manufacturer said it was possible to send the equipment back for maintenance, but the cost of such maintenance was quite high – more than half the price of a new device. Due to process changes, it is temporarily discontinued.
