This post was last edited by jake_kang on 2018-3-10 23:39. When using HTRI and EDR to calculate heat exchangers simultaneously, I encountered several problematic issues. I would like to ask the experts for advice: 1. For vertical reboilers and axial nozzles in tube boxes, HTRI throws a \"Setting plan error\" message – the A*al nozzle location is not supported by the setting plan calculation code. I haven’t found a solution yet; if anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. Thank you. (EDR doesn’t have this problem at all.) 2. When using HTRI and EDR to calculate vertical reboilers (both cases involve vertical heat exchangers without any piping), two issues were observed: (1) With the same property values, operating parameters, and equipment specifications, the obtained heat transfer coefficients differed by quite a bit, around 15%. The EDR value is high; the HTRI indicates a margin of 20%, whereas the EDR suggests around 40%. (2) With the same material properties, operating parameters, and equipment specifications, the pressure drop on the tube side during HTRI calculations is approximately 10 kPa, whereas the pressure drop in EDR is around 3 kPa – showing a significant difference. However, for single-phase flow, the two software programs differ little. Does anyone know what’s going on here!
1: If this problem occurs, it is likely because your tube guide is set in an axial position. The occurrence of this issue does not affect the heat transfer calculations, so it can be ignored. 2: If possible, could you send over the model for a look?
Is there a way to set it up so that this axial connection error isn’t reported?
