Can the ammonia pipelines on the cable tray be protected against corrosion using cathodic protection or anodic protection? How is this done?
Corrosion in ammonia pipelines does not pose a severe threat to carbon steel either; therefore, cathodic protection is not necessary. Consider the corrosion allowance for carbon steel and carry out post-weld heat treatment, and there should be no major problems. Generally, internal cathodic protection is applied to large-diameter pipelines that allow access for installation; these are usually DN600 or larger. First, an anti-corrosion coating is applied to the inner surface, followed by the use of sacrificial anodes for protection. This method is also used for seawater pipelines.
