Everyone, in some heat exchangers where the tube bundle is facing the shell side inlet, there are erosion protection baffles, while others do not have them. What I would like to ask is: what types of heat exchangers are available, and are there any specific requirements? If so, does his baffle go around the circumference of the tube bundle, or is it located right opposite the shell-side inlet?

Check what the flow velocity at the shell side inlet is; if it is high, it will cause severe erosion of the heat exchange tubes. It may be necessary to install an anti-erosion structure, and specific provisions on this are given in GB151-2014, section 6.8.1. The anti-erosion plate is a plate located below the inlet, welded to the cylinder or tie rods. There’s also a type called a flow guide cylinder, which serves the same purpose of preventing erosion; you can search on forums – there are many posts on it.
