Fiberglass reinforcement for corrosion protection is divided into two categories: fiberglass reinforcement for concrete foundations and that for steel structure foundations. The construction of fiberglass reinforcement on concrete involves focusing on foundation preparation and the application of primers for penetration. Concrete corrosion occurs as a result of chemical actions by environmental agents; over time, various techniques have been employed to protect concrete structures from corrosion. One of the most effective and commonly used methods for preventing concrete corrosion is to apply anti-corrosive coatings on its surface along with anti-corrosive fabric, thereby creating a ‘fiberglass reinforcement system for corrosion protection’. This approach not only isolates corrosive agents from the concrete substrate but also enhances the adhesion between the anti-corrosive coating and the underlying surface. Process flow (five layers of fabric and eight layers of resin): This is the most common method for corrosion protection. It involves using glass fiber fabric and vinyl ester resin to reinforce the structure, thereby creating a protective layer on top of the concrete base. Fiber glass linings offer advantages such as integrity, good water resistance, and reasonable costs; moreover, by using appropriate corrosion-resistant resins, excellent corrosion protection can be achieved. The relative humidity should not exceed 8%, and the best construction results are achieved when the surface temperature is between 10–30°C; the surface temperature should be at least 3°C higher than the dew point temperature. Base surface preparation → Apply 1–2 coats of primer → Apply vinyl ester resin putty layer, then repair with putty → Apply one layer of fiberglass cloth → Apply another layer of fiberglass cloth → Apply yet another layer of fiberglass cloth → Repair with putty → Apply one layer of fiberglass cloth → Apply another layer of fiberglass cloth → Apply 2 coats of topcoat → Final inspection and repairs → Curing and drying
