Our company has installed a new thickener for the pressure filtration of mineral processing tailings; the material consists of gypsum dihydrate in an amount of 1%~3%, with a P2O5 content of 0.1%~0.5%, and a pH level of 4.8~5.5; The tank body is made of reinforced concrete; is anti-corrosion treatment necessary inside it? Please give some advice.

The material composition of the concrete pool is 1%~3% gypsum dihydrate, with a P2O5 content of 0.1%~0.5%, and a pH level of 4.8~5.5. Such operating conditions must be corrosion-resistant. We know that concrete structures need to have a slightly alkaline pH value in order to avoid damage and remain usable over the long term. If used in conditions with a relatively acidic pH value, the surface structure of concrete will be rapidly damaged under the combined effect of other corrosive agents.
The thickener mentioned here is used in mineral processing where large amounts of tailing slurry need to be dewatered; typically, the slurry is concentrated using a thickener before being sent for pressure filtration or ceramic filtration. The pH is quite similar to that of the reverse flotation tailings from phosphate ore. You can check the thickener in the mineral processing design manual
