How to tell whether it is 304 or 316L based on national standard material classifications. There are national standards. But I’m not sure whether it’s 304 or 316. Does anyone know how to tell?
At present, **the standards for grades such as sheets, forgings, and pipes are not completely unified. However, it is generally agreed that the numerical codes used for designation are similar to those in Asme standards; for example, 30408 corresponds to 304, and 31603 corresponds to 316. There are slight differences depending on the specific grade of the material.
30408: The last 08 seems to indicate the chromium content; 30408 is what used to be known as 06Cr19Ni10, which corresponds to the foreign equivalent of 304. 30403 is what used to be called 022Cr19Ni10, corresponding to the foreign equivalent of 304L. Similarly, 31608 corresponds to the foreign equivalent of 316； 31603 is the equivalent of 316L abroad. All of the above are just my guesses.
