I’d like to ask those who are experts in anti-corrosion techniques: our factory usually uses E44 as the epoxy resin, and SW901 as the vinyl resin. However, our management requires that anti-corrosion measures be implemented using epoxy fiberglass, with a structure of six layers of fabric and six layers of resin. So which resin should be used for this epoxy fiberglass? ? ? ?
The construction methods for epoxy fiberglass anti-corrosion include one fabric with three coats, two fabrics with four coats, three fabrics with five coats, four fabrics with six coats, and five fabrics with seven coats of epoxy resin for anti-corrosion purposes; these are also referred to as one fabric with three layers of resin, two fabrics with four layers of resin, three fabrics with five layers of resin, four fabrics with six layers of resin, and five fabrics with seven layers of resin. Here, “fabric” refers to glass fiber cloth, while “coats” (also known as layers of resin or adhesive) refer to resins such as epoxy resin, unsaturated polyester resin, vinyl ester resin, furan resin, phenolic resin, etc. In the case of using fiberglass as an isolation layer in acid-resistant tile anti-corrosion projects, the terms one fabric with two layers of adhesive, two fabrics with three layers of adhesive, three fabrics with four layers of adhesive, four fabrics with five layers of adhesive, and five fabrics with six layers of adhesive are used.
Epoxy resin. Epoxy resin is quite good. We use Aslan D411. The most crucial step regarding the raw materials is to require the manufacturer to deliver the epoxy directly to the construction site; it cannot be sent to the contractor first and then brought to the site. The construction team will dilute the resin with a diluent. In this way, the resin content in the fiberglass-reinforced plastic decreases (the amount of resin; resin provides corrosion resistance, while the diluent does not) ； Generally, 300 RMB per square meter is the price for diluted resin, while the original manufacturer’s resin costs 500–600 RMB per square meter. Our project’s original price before professional clarification was 320; once the professionals demanded 100% original resin and delivery straight to the construction site, the price immediately rose to 550.
To determine which resin to use for fiberglass, one must first consider the application environment, and then select an appropriate resin accordingly. In general corrosion environments where the temperature is not exceeding 80 degrees, E44 resin can be used. If it exceeds 80 degrees but is no more than 150 degrees, vinyl resin can be used.
