For pipelines with leaks, try not to use steam tracing. Firstly, the steam temperature is too high, and the pipelines cannot withstand it ； Secondly, due to the high temperature of the steam, it is easy to heat the water to a boiling point or a high temperature, which can lead to scaling or various reactions in the water. A self-regulating temperature electric heating tape can be used.
The plastic pipe can be wrapped with an insulating layer, after which an electric heating tape or steam heating tube can be installed over that insulation (this is my personal suggestion; if possible, use the return water from the heating system). An outer insulating layer should then be applied on top.
