SolidWorks does not require high specifications from a computer; standard modern configurations will suffice. For desktops, a machine with a specification level of around 2,000 to 3,000 is more than enough. I use an ultrabook with an i7 5500U processor and an integrated graphics card, and it can run versions 2013 or 2015 without any problems. Moreover, newer versions are now available – so why use such old versions?
That day I went to a Xiaomi store and found a laptop priced at 4,500 yuan, installed SolidWorks 2012 on it, and then ran an aircraft engine assembly. When dragging the parts around, some of them turned into squares, indicating that the real-time processing capability was not very good.
What’s the configuration? What’s the processor? How much memory is there? It’s fine if squares appear when dragging, as long as there’s no lag. When the price is too high, squares often appear when dragging the components inside
