When the PDS software was designed, were the device models created by device specialists?
Currently, the equipment department doesn’t handle this; it needs to be done by the piping department itself. PDS* is software specific to the piping discipline; it is not available for the instrumentation discipline. Currently, Bentley has already begun working on the idea of integrating processes, civil engineering, equipment, piping, electrical systems, and instrumentation into a single platform. The structural and mechanical engineering teams create 3D models on their own platforms for calculations; once these models are ready, they are imported into piping software via the data platform. This represents a new concept – PDS certainly isn’t suitable for this purpose.
The equipment model is created by piping professionals
The equipment in 3D pipeline design is not the equipment designed by specialized equipment engineers. It is a device from the factory’s perspective; the key aspects are its appearance and nozzles. It falls under the jurisdiction of piping. The equipment specialty will not cross its boundaries.
