To further improve the efficiency of emergency response to hazardous chemical production accidents in Jinwan District, Zhuhai, and to refine the coordination mechanism between government agencies and enterprises in matters related to emergency rescue for work safety, thereby ensuring a safe and stable work safety environment in Jinwan District, Zhuhai. On the afternoon of November 6, Jinwan District **sponsored the event, with the District Emergency Management Bureau and LIZHU Pharmaceutical Factory of LIZHU Group acting as organizers; relevant members of Jinwan District’s Safety Committee were brought together to conduct an emergency drill for handling accidents related to the production of hazardous chemicals in 2020. Guo Xulong, the deputy head of Jinwan District, supervised the drill. During attempts to deal with the spill, company employees made operational errors that led to the alcohol catching fire, causing an explosion in the warehouse and injuring one person. The fire could have spread and threatened the safety of areas where explosive and drug-making chemicals were stored nearby. Following the accident, the company activated its level-1 response protocol, mobilized its internal rescue forces to handle the situation immediately, and reported the incident to the Emergency Management Bureau of Jinwan District. For the first time, this drill utilized real-time online broadcasting to inform various production and business units in the area about the procedures and methods for dealing with emergency situations related to hazardous chemical production accidents; it represents a bold attempt to explore ways of responding to such emergencies. It is emphasized that the management of safety in handling hazardous chemicals is crucial for protecting the lives and property of the people throughout the region. All enterprises involved in the production and operation of hazardous chemicals must strictly uphold their responsibilities regarding workplace safety, continuously strengthen risk control measures, thoroughly conduct inspections to identify potential hazards related to production accidents, and regularly organize emergency drills for such accidents. By doing so, they can ensure the safety of workers’ lives and property, thereby contributing to the sustainable economic and social development of Jinwan District.
