There is currently an asphalt storage tank area, and according to the requirements for oil depots, a low liquid level alarm must be installed to prevent cavitation in the discharge pump. A gear pump is being used now, but is it possible for asphalt to experience cavitation? Has there been a situation where cavitation did not occur? Then there’s no need to set a low liquid level alarm, right?
Personally, I think it’s unnecessary to include it if it’s not there.
What if there is a malfunction, or an safety incident, or if cavitation occurs? Refer to the recommendations from the Ministry of Chemical Industry and the designs used by previous design institutes; in many cases, it’s not about being innovative, but about carrying out production in a stable manner
It’s not just about considering cavitation; it’s also necessary to prevent the tank from becoming empty, as having a tank with no liquid inside constitutes a safety hazard!
There should also be a mechanism to prevent the pump from running dry, as this can affect the tank
Running the pump without material can damage it; also, will a lack of material affect subsequent processing steps, and could that pose any risks?
If regulatory requirements exist, then it must be set up; otherwise, it will be difficult to explain things when problems arise.
It's better to have a surplus. If it needs to be emptied for maintenance, etc., that’s another matter.
Let’s just do it; don’t worry too much about it. 1. It can prevent the pump from running idle and getting damaged. 2. It can prevent vacuuming of the tank. 3. Meet the regulatory requirements so that no one can find any fault.
