It depends specifically on the requirements of the design institute; it cannot be generalized. Adding it is beneficial for the equipment, but soft connections are generally a weak point; without it, even slight thermal stress or settlement can cause problems – in mild cases this leads to increased noise, while in severe cases it can cause the pipes to break or the equipment to crack. It’s better to add it
