Some say it’s 340 degrees. What is the actual degree value?
Soybean oil is not a pure substance, and different types of oils have varying ignition points.
According to \"Chemistry and Technology of Oils,\" the smoke point, flash point, and ignition point of soybean oil are functions of the content of free fatty acids in the oil. For all vegetable oils with similar fatty acid compositions and low free fatty acid contents, their smoke points, flash points, and ignition points are similar. Alkali-processed and decolorized oil: smoke point of 234°C, flash point of 328°C, ignition point of 363°C. Oil pressed using a screw press: smoke point of 183°C, flash point of 296°C, ignition point of 349°C. Personally, I think the ignition point of soybean oil isn’t very meaningful; the quality standards specified in GB-1535 only require specifications regarding the smoke point and the effects of heating the product at 280°C
