Code for Building Design 4.2.9 specifies the fire separation distances between storage tanks for Class A, B, and C liquids and railways as well as roads. Refer to the explanatory notes for this provision; the distance from the road is determined based on the threat posed to the storage tank by sparks from the exhaust pipes of cars and tractors. If the factory is equipped with flame arresters for vehicles, it is required that vehicles entering the factory have such arresters installed. Can this method be used to bypass the spacing requirements specified in this rule?

Reducing the spacing is not appropriate. Additionally, the roads within the factory generally serve both functional purposes for fire evacuation. According to Article 7.1.8 of the building codes, the distance between fire lanes and buildings should not be less than 5 meters; therefore, it is best not to reduce this distance during the design phase. If the safety distance for existing buildings is insufficient, it might be possible to take some remedial measures as suggested in the guidelines
