Why do the fuel gas tanks of heating furnaces often be equipped with a high liquid level interlock?
The normal liquid level in the fuel gas tank should be either zero or low; a high liquid level indicates an excess of condensate or oil. When the level is too high, the condensate can enter the burner, leading to accidents such as deflagration, fire showers, and furnace shutdown.
It’s easy to cause a firestorm; using a burner designed for burning gas to burn oil can also lead to it going out, with oil spreading all over the place
