Can electric heat tracing be used in hydrogen production workshops or hydrogen-using workshops? Explosion-proof electric heating – seeking relevant standards
There is a provision in GB50217 stating that cables installed exposed in explosive environments should be placed in conduits; GB50177 also has clear requirements; please refer to the diagram. How can heating be provided if it’s already inside the pipe? In my opinion, is electric heating cable considered a cable? GB50217 is available here; go and download it to take a look. https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-2212254-1-1.html
But there is a standard from Sinopec Lanzhou Design Institute that states SLDI 333C07-2002 is acceptable

Electric heating can be used in hydrogen production facilities, whether they are those that use oil for hydrogen production, natural gas for hydrogen production, or other methods. Using electric heating in hot gas production workshops is not your innovation, nor is it something new in flammable and explosive production areas.
My Class A workshop uses electric heating, but it is not in a hydrogen environment, so I think there should be no problem.
I used to work on gas-based hydrogen production at my previous employer. It turned out that the electric heating for the pipeline had a leak, which caused the insulation material to catch fire; luckily I noticed it in time! It is best to use water for heating
