I work in the petrochemical industry and use DCS. If the original poster asks this way, there basically won’t be any result – it’s divided into two camps; do you want to count the number of people?
They’re more or less the same; generally, they can be used. The two configurations have different operating habits; sometimes, opinions on whether they are user-friendly carry personal biases, making it difficult to determine which one is superior. To be honest, the DCS functionality is extremely powerful; there are very few processes that can make full use of its control algorithm capabilities, and in most cases only a small portion of them is utilized.
