What is an internal safety barrier in a PLC? ? I really don’t understand this thing

In this way, while a and b were in use, if a failed, it could be replaced with another a, and if b failed, it could be replaced with another b – everything remained clean and straightforward. The safety barrier inside a PLC is generally used to ensure the safety of the PLC itself; for example, in certain special situations or abnormal conditions, it prevents low-voltage modules from interfering with high-voltage circuits. It is not a safety barrier in the sense of design specifications.
