The third-generation slurry preparation technology of the **Water-Coal Slurry Center at the Coal Science and Technology Institute has passed the appraisal. Author/Source: Date: February 23, 2017. Clicks: 38. On February 20, the technology for preparing high-concentration water-coal slurry with a graded particle size distribution, developed by the Coal Science and Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd., the Coal Science and Technology Institute Energy Saving Technology Co., Ltd., and the **Water-Coal Slurry Engineering Technology Research Center, passed the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements organized by the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation in Beijing. The appraisal committee is composed of seven experts, including Wang Fuchen, vice president of East China University of Science and Technology; Sun Zhengtai, former vice president of China Tianchen Engineering Co., Ltd.; Zhang Tao, general manager of Shandong Yankuang Guotuo Technology Engineering Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Chuanjiang, chairman of China Shenhua Coal-to-Oil Chemical Co., Ltd. At the meeting, the evaluation committee unanimously agreed that this technology can increase the slurry concentration by 6 to 8 percentage points based on traditional rod mills; its technical parameters are at the international leading level. It creates conditions for further improving the efficiency of water-coal slurry gasification units, and holds significant importance for energy conservation and emission reduction. The committee recommended accelerating the construction of industrial demonstration units. Li Falin, director of the Water-Coal Slurry Center at the Coal Research Institute, explained that currently, the technology used for preparing water-coal slurries in the coal chemical industry relies mainly on rod mills, and this approach has drawbacks such as low slurry concentration, high energy consumption, and no means to adjust the particle size distribution. In 2007, the Water-Coal Slurry Center of the Coal Science Academy developed the second-generation slurry preparation technology (graded grinding process) and the corresponding equipment, which have been successfully applied in practical projects. This technology enables an increase in the coal slurry concentration by 3–4 percentage points, resulting in significant economic benefits. At present, the Slurry Coal Center of the China Coal Research Institute has completed the construction of a pilot production line, the development of supporting equipment, and the preparation of a complete set of slurry production technology packages, meeting the conditions for industrial demonstration. The Water-Coal Slurry Center of the Coal Research Institute will provide second-generation and third-generation coal slurry concentration technologies and equipment to meet the production needs of various coal chemical enterprises.
In terms of environmental protection, requirements for water treatment are becoming increasingly strict. Water-coal slurry boilers represent a direction for development, so it’s important to study this area thoroughly in the future.
Good news for water-coal slurry; congratulations!
It’s quite good; the key question is where it will be applied?
