Where does the waste gas in coal-based hydrogen production plants come from? What are the components of exhaust gas? And what are the methods for desulfurizing these exhaust gases?
Regardless of the gasification method used for coal, the components in the raw syngas include CO/CO2/H2/CH4/H2S/COS/N2, etc. The composition of the raw syngas varies depending on the gasification method. To obtain the maximum amount of hydrogen, it is necessary to carry out a shift reaction on the raw syngas: CO + H2O = CO2 + H2. The resulting shifted gas is then used for hydrogen production; the components CO/CO2/CH4/H2S/COS/N2 in this gas are all waste gases. As for desulfurization, there are processes that produce sulfuric acid and others that produce sulfur.
