Different units have varying approaches to handling this issue. Both operation methods are available. Keeping the flushing water flowing continuously helps to prevent scaling and enhances the stability of the level gauge. Additionally, the pipes used for flushing the level gauge are relatively thin, making them prone to freezing in winter, especially in northern regions; continuous flow can help prevent the flushing water from freezing. However, the water used for flushing the level gauge is usually soft water, which is expensive, thus this approach increases costs invisibly. Moreover, keeping the flushing water flowing continuously affects the accuracy of the level gauge’s readings – although the gauge shows a temperature, the actual value may be either too high or too low ; When operated using intermittent flushing, the accuracy of the displayed values is higher as long as the level gauge is not clogged by scale; moreover, less soft water is consumed. However, there is a greater risk of distorted readings if the valve at the base of the level gauge becomes clogged, and there is also a higher likelihood that the flushing pipes will freeze in winter. As for how to make the choice, it first depends on the actual conditions of the respective unit. If the water quality is not very poor, intermittent flushing should be used in summer, while continuous operation should be adopted in winter. If the water quality is poor or there is concern that the level gauge might get clogged, it is better to choose the constant-on mode in both summer and winter; although it increases costs somewhat, it at least provides peace of mind.
