Gasification technology contract signed for Xinjiang Tianye’s 600,000 tons/year ethylene glycol project

On October 13, 2017, Xinjiang Tianye Huihe New Materials Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Yangmei Chemical Machinery (Group) Co., Ltd. held a signing ceremony for the 600,000-ton/year ethylene glycol production unit as part of the first-phase project to produce ethylene glycol from syngas at a capacity of 1 million tons per year; this unit involves four sets of 6.5MPa Jinhua furnaces model 3.0. The project is located in the Shihu Tan New Materials Industrial Park, Regiment 147, Shihezi City, Eighth Division. The total investment in the project is 7.44 billion yuan, of which 7.05 billion yuan is allocated to construction costs. The main components of the project include gasification, shift reaction, methanol washing, and hydrogen/carbon monoxide separation. The process gas obtained meets the requirements for the production of ethylene glycol and methanol; ethylene glycol is synthesized via carbonylation DMO synthesis and distillation, as well as through the hydrogenation of oxalate esters followed by distillation, while methanol is produced concurrently using the low-pressure synthesis method. The project has been registered with the Development and Reform Commission of the Eighth Division.
