What should be done if ammonia is not supplied to the coke oven for an extended period of time? Some people say to immediately supply process water (or fire water). What I don’t understand is that water used for production doesn’t seem to provide such good cooling effects; over time, where does the water go? Some people say to open the riser for venting. What I don’t understand is whether to open it when it has just been loaded with coal or at the end of the coking process? Besides, from an environmental perspective, it’s not possible to release it either.
When the coke oven is without ammonia water for an extended period, the proper course of action is to take immediate emergency measures to prevent damage to the coke oven or explosions. Generally, the following methods can be employed: 1. Immediately introduce a large amount of cooling water or fire-fighting water to rapidly lower the temperature of the coke oven, thereby preventing further damage or explosion. 2. Open the rise pipe for venting, to discharge the gases and liquids accumulated inside the furnace, thereby ensuring that the pressure within the furnace does not become too high. 3. Inspect the interior of the coke oven to determine the cause and severity of the problem, and carry out repairs and adjustments promptly. If necessary, operations such as cleaning the furnace and replacing components may be considered. It should be noted that when carrying out the relevant treatments, attention must also be paid to issues such as environmental protection and safety, in order to avoid causing greater impacts and losses. At the same time, appropriate measures must also be taken based on the specific circumstances to ensure the safety of personnel and equipment. .
The coke oven is ignited with open-air ignition. Monitor the gas collector pressure; if it remains high, the furnace that has just been fed with coal needs to be opened. Monitor the pressure and flow rate of ammonia water, as well as the temperature of the gas collection pipe. If there is no ammonia water due to a power outage of the ammonia water pump, it is necessary to activate the diesel ammonia water pump to supply water for cooling. If such a pump is not available, industrial water must be supplied to the gas collection pipe; however, it is important to control the temperature of this pipe so that it does not drop too low, thereby preventing tar from condensing at the bottom of the pipe. Turn off the gas shut-off valve and regulating valve in the basement. In the purification workshop, pay attention to the liquid level in the ammonia tank. If production water is supplied for an extended period of time, a high liquid level in the ammonia tank can cause the ammonia to spill over, leading to environmental pollution incidents; in such cases, it is necessary to divert the wastewater into an accident containment tank.
In the newly designed coking project, a diesel emergency pump has been installed in the purification workshop to automatically start supplying ammonia water in case of a system power failure.
