In the coal chemical industry’s gas desulfurization units, the sulfur melting process is a commonly used approach. However, in practice, the liquid resulting from sulfur melting often gets clogged with various impurities over time, and it is difficult to deal with this issue. Analysis shows that blockages are usually caused by the following factors: First, improper operation of the sulfur melting temperature leads to insufficient separation of sulfur, which then enters the clear liquid pipeline; over time, this accumulation results in blockages ; II. Precipitation of insoluble salts: Impure salts with low solubility such as sulfates precipitate in the clear liquid pipelines. Especially when the environmental temperature is low, these salts tend to precipitate in areas that are not insulated, such as at the sight glass openings, which makes it difficult to observe through the sight glass and can lead to blockages ; III. Impurities such as tar and dust brought in by gas affect the tar and dust content in coke oven gas. Over time, these impurities accumulate in the desulfurization solution, where they gradually mix with sulfur to form sulfur melts. Some of these impurities are carried away with the liquid resulting from sulfur melting; however, when there are fluctuations in flow rate, they tend to deposit in valves, elbows, and other areas, leading to blockages. Preventive measures: 1. Precisely control the sulfur melting temperature to reduce the sulfur content in the clear liquid ; 2. Reasonably select pipe specifications and routing to reduce the number of elbows ; 3. Select an appropriate catalyst, ensure proper operation and maintenance of the desulfurization system, and reduce the accumulation of by-products ; 4. Ensure proper insulation of the pipes to prevent salt crystallization due to lower local temperatures. 5. Carry out proper gas pretreatment to reduce the accumulation of tar in the desulfurization liquid.
To prevent blockages in the liquid discharge pipeline of the sulfur melting tank, the following measures can be taken: 1. Precisely control the sulfur melting temperature to ensure complete separation of sulfur, thereby reducing the sulfur content in the liquid; 2. Optimize pipeline design by reducing elbows and preventing impurity deposition ; 3. Use an appropriate catalyst to improve desulfurization efficiency and reduce the formation of by-products ; 4. Strengthen pipeline insulation to prevent the precipitation of salts due to low temperatures ; 5. Improve gas pretreatment to reduce the entry of tar and dust into the desulfurization system. These measures can effectively reduce clogging issues and improve the operational efficiency of the equipment. .
