Some shift converters are equipped with large inlet valves, whereas in the full-shift converters used for producing ammonia, as well as the two low-shift converters, there are no such large inlet valves – only cold and hot bypass lines. The reason for this is that in full-shift conversion, all gases need to be converted, so large inlet valves are not necessary
This should be easy to understand, right? With some of the conversion settings applied to the furnace valve, it might be necessary to disconnect that converter; since all the raw gas undergoing conversion needs to go into the converter, setting a valve becomes unnecessary. That’s how I understand it
