I would like to ask everyone why methanol synthesis catalysts are cylindrical in shape with flat ends on both sides Why not a cylinder with spherical arches at both ends? Won’t this help reduce dust? Thank you!
Your proposal is great, but the catalyst manufacturers will be upset because they’ll have to install new cutting tools; otherwise, how can those catalyst strips with spherical ends on both sides be cut?
Upstairs, the catalysts are not cut out; they are directly pressed into tablets. Logically, it should be quite easy to replace the pressure tablet head.

Molding catalyst tablets requires molds, and different shapes need different molds. The catalyst powder prepared according to the formula is mixed with a small amount of graphite and water, and then fed into a grinding tool for sheet formation. There are two sources of physical water in the catalyst: one is the water used in the aforementioned slugging process, and the other is the moisture absorbed during the cooling phase after the catalyst is calcined.
Could some expert explain why the catalyst has a flat tip rather than a round one?
When slicing, simply replace the tool; however, flat-head catalysts tend to yield better results. If you need a certain format, it should be specified during the bidding process.
