The flare systems come in the following forms: 1. Thermal flare: Process gas from the gas generation system during startup/shutdown and from safety valve discharges. 2. Cold flare: The process gas from the low-temperature methanol washing and liquid nitrogen washing systems, as well as that from safety valve discharges, is heated before being fed into the hot flare system. 3. Ammonia flare: Ammonia gas from ammonia synthesis, startup and shutdown of chiller systems, and safety valve discharges. 4. Acid gas flare: Acidic gases emitted from gas generation wastewater and the methanol washing system. Different types of torches cannot be mixed.
I have a question for the original poster: Is it mandatory to install a flare in modern ammonia synthesis plant designs? Could you provide the relevant specification requirements?
Ammonia synthesis plants must be equipped with flares; generally, gas blending is required, and water-sealed tanks cannot be used in the process piping systems. Therefore, it is recommended to install molecular sealers. The flare heads must be those designed specifically for ammonia use (manufacturers usually have their own such heads, which are similar to each other).
