How long does it take to dry nitrogen after the combined operation of low-temperature methanol washing?
In my opinion, the key factor is the residual amount of methanol-water in the system; the longer the time, the better. It’s possible to choose a lower temperature to check for any accumulation of water
Continue testing until the water content in the dry gas is within acceptable limits
Just make sure the low-point drainage is thorough. Then, the methanol cycle is put into operation, and a methanol-water separation tower is used for separation to check the water content therein.
Which process do you use for low-temperature methanol washing? ?
Longer time is not necessarily better; several days of nitrogen purging alone cannot remove the water from the dead spots. It is sufficient to drain the water from the lowest points. Once a methanol circulation system is established, the methanol-water separation tower can be operated at full capacity, and the water content will drop rapidly

For my end, the dryness acceptance standard is that multiple samples taken by the system at -70°C meet the requirement. If there is a shortage of nitrogen or the cost is too high, the method mentioned above can be used to ensure that all areas are drained thoroughly, with no dead corners remaining (these dead corners can be cleared using purging). It’s advisable to establish a methanol circulation system early on, as well as to start the five-tank water separation process early before starting up the equipment.
