Construction begins on Longi’s first green methanol project in Xuchang, Henan

On April 3, 2024, Xuchang City in Henan Province held a ceremony to mark the simultaneous commencement of various projects under the “Three Batches” initiative. Among these was the green methanol production project of Xuchang LONGi Bioenergy Co., Ltd., with an annual production capacity of 120,000 tons; this marked the official start of LONGi’s first green methanol project. Reportedly, the project received official approval on January 17. Located in the Advanced Manufacturing Development Zone of Xiangcheng County, it involves a total investment of 2 billion yuan. Upon completion, it is expected to produce 120,000 tons of green methanol annually and generate approximately 30,000 kW of electricity on its own. The project will also create over 200 jobs. It is understood that Xuchang Longi Bioenergy Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hainan Longi Bioenergy Co., Ltd., and was registered on January 12, 2024. Hainan Longi Bioenergy Co., Ltd. was registered and established on January 11, and is wholly owned by Longi Green Energy.
