The China A-Olefins Market and Technology Forum 2017 will be held in Guiyang on November 24th. Leaders and experts from the Petroleum and Chemical Industry Planning Institute will attend the conference and deliver insightful speeches on the current status and trends of the global and Chinese linear α-olefin markets. http://image.izacholsm.com/fkImages/18892/image/(1%40C(~WLK)8~FL4LTWM%24PSE.png Linear α-olefins (LAO) refer to straight-chain terminal olefins with 4 carbon atoms or more; they are an important organic raw material that has seen rapid development in recent years, featuring a wide range of applications and high added value for their products. In 2016, global LAO consumption was approximately 5.4 million tons, with North America accounting for about 35% of global LAO consumption, followed by Western Europe (19%), the Middle East (15%), and China (14%). LAO applications mainly include the following aspects: comonomers. The comonomers used in the production of linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and polyolefin elastomers (POE) are primarily 1-butene, 1-hexene, and 1-octene. 1-butene can also be copolymerized with ethylene and propylene to produce propylene/ethylene/butene terpolymer random polypropylene, or copolymerized with propylene to produce butene-copolymerized polypropylene ; Used in the production of detergents and detergent alcohols; detergent alcohols synthesized from α-olefins exhibit excellent biodegradability ; Polyalpha-olefins (PAO) are high-quality synthetic lubricants; they are primarily oligomers of 1-decene and 1-octene ; Plasticizer alcohols, which are obtained through carbonylation of C8-C10 linear α-olefins, have low volatility and exhibit excellent light stability and antioxidant properties ; Used to produce lubricant additives as well as drilling fluids, adhesives, sealants, etc. Copolymers represent one of the most important uses of LAO, accounting for over 50% of its total consumption. The ongoing increase in demand for polyethylene will remain the main driving force behind the development of the LAO market. With the new polyethylene plants built for shale gas chemical processing in the United States, the polyethylene industry based on coal chemical and petrochemical routes in China is experiencing rapid development; driven by the growth of the high-end lubricant market, demand for LAO will continue to increase steadily. North America and China will drive growth in global consumption, with total global demand expected to exceed 6.3 million tons by 2020. At present, China’s production capacity for LAO is severely insufficient; the capacity for 1-hexene is only 55,000 tons per year, while the production of 1-octene does not exist at all, with products having to be imported. The 13th Five-Year Development Guidelines for the petrochemical industry stipulate that efforts should be accelerated to develop high-carbon LAO comonomers such as hexene-1 and octene-1, in order to promote the industrialization of high-performance polyolefins. At the same time, **with policy support, key technologies for the production of high-performance lubricants in China are set to make breakthroughs in the coming years, which will surely drive an increase in demand for LAO. The 2017 China A-Olefins Market and Technology Forum will be held in Guiyang on November 24. The meeting will discuss the current status and trends of the global and Chinese a-olefin markets ; Future growth potential for demand in a-olefins ; Advances in a-olefin production technology ; Downstream applications of a-olefins ; A-olefin project investment ; Development and application of key technologies for polyalpha-olefins, etc.
A fancy conference; just worth taking a look at
