According to available information, UOP’s MTO technology has the lowest methanol consumption. Then why is DMTO, namely the technology developed by the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, the most widely used MTO technology in China? Is it because of patent costs, catalyst prices, and equipment costs, which give domestic technologies an advantage? What’s the reason? Thank you.

Domestic MTO units that utilize UOP technology generally have a capacity of 300,000 tons, while those using DMTO technology have a capacity of 600,000 tons ； 2. In China, in addition to DMTO I and DMTO II developed by Dahuahua Research Institute, SMTO technology and SHMTO technology are also available as alternatives.
I am currently at the UOP technology MTO plant with a capacity of 2.4 million tons
Is there 2.4 million tons per year of MTO in the country? I’m afraid there isn’t such a large scale on an international level either.
