The first successful segmental assembly and lifting of the reactor, one of the key equipment in the core units of the Tianjin Bohua DMTO project, was completed on July 21 in the Tianjin Nangang Industrial Zone, as part of the project for the relocation of Tianjin Bohua’s facilities carried out by Sinopec Fourth Construction Company. Among them, the “two units” – namely the reactor and the regenerator – are the equipment in the entire system for which construction is most difficult and extremely high precision is required. The reactor was transported to the site in sections by the general contractor, and was assembled, welded, and installed on-site by the Tianjin Bohua DMTO project. The reactor has a maximum diameter of 15.6 meters and a total weight of 939 tons; the overall height of the equipment itself is 42 meters, and it is designed to be installed on a concrete foundation 21 meters high. The reactor is assembled on-site in four sections; the first section consists of the skirt, lower head, and lower cylinder, with a diameter of 11.8 meters and a lifting weight of 116 tons ; The second section is a transition section, with the diameter increasing from 11.8 meters to 15.6 meters, and the lifting weight is 148 tons ; The third section is the upper cylinder, with a diameter of 15.6 meters and a lifting weight of 115 tons ; The fourth section is the upper head, with a diameter of 15.6 meters and a lifting weight of 220 tons. Thanks to the high precision of the alignment of the reactor sections, the subsequent alignment of the lower head with the skirt, as well as that of the lower cylinder with the lower head, were carried out smoothly and in a very short time. The alignment and installation of the first section of the entire reactor were completed within the one-day timeline planned by the project team, all in a safe, high-quality, and efficient manner; the welding qualification rate was 99.2%.
