Liquid slugging can occur in reciprocating compressors when they contain liquid. When it’s light, there is a knocking sound and the machine vibrates greatly. The heavy connecting rod broke, causing scratches on the cylinder block; in some cases, the compressor was even destroyed – the damage was extremely severe.
