What is the purpose of olefin saturation in a gasoline hydrogenation reactor?
The current National VI gasoline standard requires that the volume fraction of olefins in gasoline be less than 18%, and the volume fraction of aromatics to be less than 35%. FCC gasoline has the problem of high sulfur and high olefin content; in order for gasoline to meet the National VI standards, FCC gasoline must undergo thorough desulfurization and olefin reduction.
I’m not sure what level of saturation of olefins this is at; generally, in gasoline hydrogenation, it’s not desired for the olefins to be overly saturated. Is this gasoline-saturated olefin from the catalytic cracking unit?
