I need help understanding what function breathing valves serve in those parts of production equipment
Won’t any CTA or hazop studies be carried out from a process perspective? A breathing valve is needed in dangerous areas!
It is generally used in dome tanks, mainly to prevent the pressure inside the tank from becoming too high or too low. The pressure range is set through the breather valve. When the pressure exceeds the upper limit, automatic exhaust (exhalation) occurs to prevent the tank from overpressuring. When the pressure falls below the lower limit, automatic suction occurs to prevent the tank from collapsing. Of course, they can also be separated, that is, a single exhaust valve or a vacuum-breaking valve (single suction)
When the pressure inside the container is lower than the external pressure, the intake valve of the breathing valve opens to allow air to be drawn in; when the pressure inside the container is higher than the external pressure, the exhaust valve of the breathing valve opens to allow air to be expelled
A breather valve is an accessory for oil tanks. A breathing valve is an accessory for storage tanks, primarily used in dome tanks and floating roof tanks. It is usually installed together with a flame arrester. The functions of a breathing valve are as follows: 1. To release gas when the pressure exceeds the maximum allowable value set by the breathing valve, thereby keeping the oil and gas inside the tank within a reasonable range; 2. When the internal pressure of the storage tank is below the maximum pressure allowed by the breather valve, external air is drawn into the tank through the breather valve, thereby preventing accidents caused by pressure differences that could lead to deformation of the tank ; 3. Reduce oil loss, as the breather valve has a specified pressure range through which gas can pass, thereby preventing continuous leakage of oil and gas from the storage tank and thus reducing oil loss.
